IN PRAISE OF ART TRAVELLING

Aleksandra Kędziorek

[In the art] ‘everything already existed’ – repeats to the audience over and over again Azorro Supergroup in the movie under the same title. Similar assumptions as the artists of the Supergroup draws Kuba Banasiak in the column Będąc bezwzględnymi, czynimy dobro. ART TRAVELLING (Being ruthless, we do good. ART TRAVELLING), published in a holiday edition of “Art & Business” (7-8/2007). As early as in the title he proposes to the readers unusual form of discovering the artistic world – art travelling. It’s admittedly an interesting suggestion but almost impossible to realize because, as the originator of the idea says after Maria Poprzęcka, what was to be discover in the art, was already discovered.

OCH, BIENNIAL, BIENNIAL

Paweł Kompanicki

Olga Miłogrodzka managed to see what was marginalized in Poland (Prowincje imperium – 52. Biennale w Wenecji / Empire’s provinces – 52. Biennial in Venice). African art was to be the discovery of this year’s Art Biennial in Venice. „Check List Luanda Pop” exhibition is the first big exhibition on art from this part of the world. What is more, it is the integral part of the main exhibition, which emphasizes its significance. Storr’s gesture – as Olga Miłogrodzka observes – „is not only the act of recognition and directing one’s attention to passed over or forgotten areas. It is much more – it is giving the opportunity to expressing one’s opinion.”

CAUGHT IN THE WEB

Agnieszka Kozłowska

Searching for something interesting, I looked at „Esensja” website. And I found. „Esensja” is a pop culture magazine concerning not only cinema, but also literature, comic books, games and all things which are connected somehow with popular culture. Apart from the presentation of unique works (short stories, excerpts of novels), in every issue we can find many book, film, games and cartoon reviews. The editorial stuff also makes an effort to maintain detachment from pop culture, and it devotes an editorial discussion or a block of texts. In the newest, May (4/2007) number we can read about „Star Wars” phenomenon, which celebrate the thirtieth anniversary.

Column_I READ PEOPLE’S THOUGHTS

Adam Kaczanowski

Does such a person read that charming section many times like in trance, in different keys every time putting stress on a different word? Does that person recite it in front of the mirror watching every syllable which comes out of his lips? Does that person interrupt his wife or her husband and tells to listen?

For me it is hard to understand such a person, but when I see so many paeans to a perfect sound of this or that text, a praise of authors, who reflect the melody of language so well, I take an existence of such a reader for a good sign. Well, I believe there are such people. However “to believe” does not mean “to understand”.
